Portuguese startup launches AI system that saves lawyers time

AI For Business

Portuguese legal tech startup ByTheLaw We have developed AI solutions for the legal sector based on the needs of law firms Cervro & Asociados.

The system automatically organizes all of a law firm’s internal legal knowledge, from legal opinions to contracts, “enabling professionals to find reliable information in minutes, freeing up time for more important work.”

“The system took eight months of intensive work at Sérvulo & Associados, during which the team at ByTheLaw identified that the confusion and dispersion of legal information was one of the main obstacles to the operation.

“The result is the first autonomous AI-powered legal information management system that can transform fragmented information into structured, researchable assets,” the company said in a communiqué.

Using this new tool, lawyers will save approximately 63 hours per user per year. “Lawyers don’t need another search engine; they need a reliable knowledge base. Generative AI is only useful when fed with quality data,” said ByTheLaw CEO André Dionísio.

The project already has 1,100 active users, clients include Sérvulo & Associados and P&A Legal, and a pilot with CMS is underway. In the public administration sector, it is already being used in the city of Coimbra and is also being tested in the Regional Government of Madeira.
