Delhi: Union minister Piyush Goyal on July 25 alleged that his statements to the media outside parliament were “maliciously altered” using artificial intelligence (AI) and that a deepfake video was created and disseminated, and said an FIR has been registered in this regard. Goyal, in a post on
“My statements to the media outside Parliament were maliciously altered using AI and a deepfake video was created and disseminated to spread misinformation,” Goyal said in the post.
He said strict legal action will be taken against everyone involved in the creation, dissemination and amplification of the alleged fake video. “Irresponsible misuse of artificial intelligence to mislead the public cannot and will not be tolerated,” the Union minister said.
Mr. Goyal also urged people to rely only on verified and authentic sources. “I have full faith that the conscious and tech-savvy citizens of India, especially the youth, will not fall prey to such misinformation,” he added.

The government yesterday debunked a video circulating on social media in which Goyal was seen making threatening remarks about students protesting in Delhi.
Meanwhile, Goyal said on July 24 that social activist Sonam Wangchuck had ended her fast after receiving an assurance from the government, noting that the decision reflected Wangchuck’s confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government’s commitment to the youth of the nation.
The minister said that Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda and Union minister Jitendra Singh met Mr. Wangchuk at Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital and addressed his concerns.
“Mr. Sonam Wangchuk ended his fast after my colleagues Shri @JPNadda and Shri @DrJitendraSingh met him at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram and assured him of the government’s efforts to address his concerns. Mr. Wangchuk’s decision to end his fast reflects his confidence in the Modi government’s commitment to the interests of students,” Goyal wrote on X.
The Union Minister further emphasized the government’s unwavering determination to reform the examination system and protect the future of students.
“The government has time and again reiterated its determination to act decisively against the paper leaks and strengthen exam reforms. The interests of the country’s youth remain the government’s top priority,” Goyal added in the post.
