The Press Information Bureau (PIB)’s fact-checking unit has debunked an AI-generated deepfake video circulating on social media that falsely claimed that Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had resigned.
In a post on X, PIB clarified that the video was digitally manipulated and that Pradhan “made no such statements.” The agency released the original, unedited video to combat misinformation and urged the public to rely only on official sources for verified information.

Officials said a similar deepfake also falsely depicted the prime minister making threatening remarks to protesters. PIB reiterated that it only verifies information related to the Indian government and encourages citizens to cross-check viral content with official government officials before sharing.
