On Wednesday, the Patna High Court ordered the Congress party to remove AI-generated videos related to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother from all social media platforms. The court also issued notices to President Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, President Bihar Congress Rajesh Ram and opposition leaders of the Election Commission.
While listening to the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Vivekanand Singh, a bench including Justice Pb Bajanthri and Justice Alok Kumar Sinha passed the order. The petition challenged the creation and promotion of the video through the official social media handle of the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee.

The video, entitled “Sahab Ke Sapnon Mein Aayi Maa” (MAA appears in Saahab's Dream), was posted on Bihar Congress' social media platform a few days ago. It depicts a character similar to a prime minister, similar to Prime Minister Modi, and engages in symbolic conversations, dreaming of someone who resembles his late mother.
The NDA sharply criticized the video, calling it “disrespectful” and accusing Congress of surpassing all restrictions on political decency. However, Congress leaders defended the video, claiming it was not offensive and a symbolic portrayal of a mother advising her son about “Raj Dharma.”
Ordering the removal of the video from all official Congress social media accounts, Bajanthri's Supreme Court Justice called it a violation of fundamental rights. The court also said it was violating such AI-generated content. It was established by the Supreme Court and various High Courts.
In response to the court's decision, BJP spokesman Prem Ranjan Patel has accused the assembly of “low” and said that people in Bihar will teach the party lessons in future parliamentary elections.
JDU leader Neeraj Kumar said the court's decision would serve as a mirror for those who argue that the constitution is under threat.
“It is a legal crime to make such a comment about someone's mother or father as long as there is a constitution, and in the case there is a judiciary,” he said, adding that Congressional parties are in a state of political decline.
