Pakistan’s Ministry of IT will launch 20,000 online AI training programs under the National AI Acceleration Initiative, offering six- to 12-month courses and certifications to accelerate workforce skills and AI adoption.
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications is gearing up to launch 20,000 online artificial intelligence training programs under the National AI Advancement Initiative, which aims to equip Pakistan’s workforce for the digital economy.
The 6-12 month courses are aimed at recent graduates, teachers, government employees, freelancers, and professionals from various industries through an advanced learning management system.
The initiative aims to improve workforce capabilities, foster innovation, and expand AI adoption in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, education, and industry.
Participants will be able to earn certifications in specialized areas such as machine learning, deep learning, and AI ethics, and will also introduce AI literacy courses for civil servants and business executives who support policymaking and technology implementation.
The ministry invited training and development companies to help develop learning management systems and design courses tailored to national and international market requirements.
Software and AI expert Asim Tausif Khan said artificial intelligence could help Pakistan expand its current presence in the global IT industry.
He said rapid upskilling of young professionals is needed to meet the growing demand in local and Gulf markets.
Under the National AI Policy 2025, Pakistan aims to train 1 million people in AI-related skills by 2030, including 10,000 trainers, 20,000 annual internships, and 3,000 advanced research scholarships every year.
IT exporter and AI coach Dr. Noman Said said the introduction of AI tools has become necessary to remain competitive in the international job market and called for AI education to begin at the secondary school level.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Amin warned that artificial intelligence could replace many freelance jobs if workers cannot improve their skills, but added that the technology will also create new opportunities for those willing to adapt.
