Orissa Television Limited (OTV) has introduced the state’s first artificial intelligence (AI) newscaster named Risa. AI news anchor Lisa’s introduction was made at a ceremony held in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

Managing Director of OTV, Jagi Mangat Panda, emphasized the importance of embracing technological advances. She said OTV aims to keep up with the times in today’s digital age where people spend more time on the internet. The introduction of Lisa, the first AI anchor in the local TV broadcasting sector in Orissa, marks a new era in TV journalism.

“There was a time when computers were amazing. But times have changed and today people are spending more time on the Internet. OTV has set a new milestone by introducing the first artificial intelligence news anchor in Orissa,” Panda said in a report released by OTV.

Panda emphasized the evolving tastes of viewers, with an emphasis on finding particular angles and answers in news stories. In this respect, AI can be a valuable tool for repetitive tasks and data analysis.

“The use of AI in television broadcasting is just beginning, so AI News Anchor Lisa is poised to create many new milestones. Lisa is the first AI anchor in the free-to-air local television Similarly, Lisa is also Odia’s first newscaster,” she added.

“We want her to be trained to a level where she can easily interact with others,” she added.

Lisa now presents news in English with Odia on OTV’s television and digital platforms. However, efforts are underway to improve Lisa’s proficiency in Odia. Lisa can be found on popular social media her platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. The network also posted footage of Lisa on Twitter.
