OpenAI has announced that it will shut down its social media app Sora. While Sora gained viral popularity last fall as a platform for sharing short-form videos generated by artificial intelligence, it also raised concerns in Hollywood and beyond.
OpenAI said in a short statement that it is “saying goodbye to the Sora app,” News.Az reported, citing international media, adding that details will be shared soon on how users can save content they create on the platform.
“What we created in collaboration with Sora was important, and we know this news is disappointing,” the company said.

Concerns centered on the proliferation of non-consensual images and increasingly realistic deepfakes, along with a flood of low-quality AI-generated content.
OpenAI later imposed restrictions on content involving public figures following backlash.
