Muscat, December 25 – The Sultanate of Oman, through the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, has launched several pilot projects to employ artificial intelligence (AI) across several key sectors. These initiatives highlight the importance of public-private partnerships in advancing AI-driven solutions and aim to accelerate the adoption of AI technologies within government agencies through low-risk, practical applications.

In the healthcare sector, the Ministry of Health collaborated with Badr Al Samaa Health Services and Muscat Pharmacy to implement a national AI project for early detection of diabetic retinopathy. This initiative establishes Oman as the third country in the world to deploy such a comprehensive national AI solution. This project effectively reduced waiting times, improved diagnostic accuracy, increased patient satisfaction, and expanded access to testing services.

Koura Hospital has partnered with AI company Civilization to implement an AI platform to analyze spine MRI images. The platform provides preliminary image analysis and supporting reports to radiologists and orthopedic specialists, facilitating automated medical reporting and supporting clinical decision-making.

In the judicial field, prosecutors worked with Rahal to pilot an AI system designed to analyze court documents, formulate questions for parties involved, and draft decisions to dismiss or refer cases. Additionally, the authority collaborated with Afaq to develop an intelligent bid evaluation system using AI to speed up and improve the technical and financial evaluation process, produce comprehensive reports with final award recommendations, and increase the objectivity and efficiency of decision-making.

In the higher education sector, the Ministry launched the A2M platform (BIMANIC) in partnership with the National University of Science and Technology. This AI-powered platform is designed to predict student outcomes and support academic planning and decision-making.

In the area of ​​cybersecurity, the Ministry's Information and Safety Center collaborated with technology provider GBM to create an intelligent chatbot system to assist users with cybersecurity issues. This chatbot provides fast and reliable support, reduces manual effort, speeds information access, and improves data accuracy.
