Delhi police registered a lawsuit against the Congress and its IT cells on Saturday the day after the party's Bihar force posted a video on social media that allegedly laughed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his mother. The lawsuit was registered following a complaint by Sankhet Gupta, convened by BJP Delhi Election Cell.
The video, shared on September 10th on social media platform X, is said to portray Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a slow, twisted way, in a dreamy conversation with someone similar to his late mother, Heeraben Modi.
The 36-second clip marked “AI Generated” has been widely shared online and has been seen by the BJP as a personal attack on PM Modi. However, Congress defended the video and said there was nothing rude to anyone.

The complaints filed with the North Avenue Police Station describe the visual as defamatory and claims it will anger Prime Minister Modi's mother and motherhood in general.
The BJP claims the video has been released as a political provocation and is timed ahead of the Bihar Congress election scheduled for later this year.
In addition to the video submission, the complaint mentions a previous incident at the “Voters Adakal Yatra” held in Darbanga from August 27-28. There, the BJP says that slogans that misused Prime Minister Modi and his late mother shouted from the Congress RJD stage.
FIR deals with crimes related to honor and harm, shaming against women, and digital misuse, and is registered in multiple sections under the IT Act's relevant provisions and Digital Data Protection Act.
Congressional leaders defended the video, stating that it was not intended to be rude, and described the clip as a form of advice and commentary rather than insult.
“Where is the rudeness of a deceased mother? She shows you a word, a gesture. Where you see rudeness. It is a parent's duty to educate your child. She is only educating her child, and thinks that the child is not a headache, but a headache, not your head, but your headache.
The names of the prime minister and his mother have been dragged into political debate before this.
On August 27th, in Darbanga “Voters Adhikar Yatra” The slogan of let, led by Congress and RJD, directed at Prime Minister Modi and his late mother, is said to have been recited from the stage.
Prime Minister Modi responded sharply, saying the incident was “unimaginable” and “a humiliation to all mothers, sisters and daughters of the country.” He emphasized that his mother “has nothing to do with politics.”
