Perplexity AI announces video generation capabilities to ask Perplexity in X

AI Video & Visuals

Perplexity AI has just made things into a notch. On June 19, the company officially launched a fun and creative video generation feature for X (formerly Twitter)'s “Ask Perplexity” bot. Now users can simply tag @AskPerplexity with a tweet at a short prompt, and in return, they can get an 8-second AI-generated video with sound, visuals and even dialogue.

It didn't take long for the internet to catch up. Almost instantly, X was bustling with cheerful, imaginative prompts. From animated samosa parties to fictional chats between celebrities and world leaders, users wanted to test the limits of what the tool could do. And while the video was fun and quirky, the confusion revealed that the feature comes with a powerful content filter to prevent misuse.

Ask Perplexity Bot joined in on the fun and tweeted a light-hearted message about the flood of requests it is receiving. Naturally, the surge in demand has led to longer wait times. This was addressed quickly by letting the team know that the delays were high in traffic.

This is not the first major step in Perplexity to make AI more accessible and attractive. The service was launched on WhatsApp at the beginning of April 2025. Here, users can chat with AI to generate images, get answers, and run research. Adding video generation to X is another step to making creative AI tools easy to use and available to people where they are already there.

What really sets this feature apart is how easy it is. You don't need to download anything, sign up for a new service, or have any technical skills. Tweet your idea, tag @askperplexity and wait for the magic to happen.

We've already talked about how this will evolve. Do you see a long video? More interactions? Different styles? For now it's all in the air. But what is certain is that confusing AI has found a playful and fascinating way to showcase the power of generated AI.

For now, it's not just about asking questions, it's about bringing the idea to life. One short video at a time.
