The 45-second video opens with actual footage of Obama, who says, “The President, in particular, is beyond the law.” Other well-known Democrats, including Joe Biden, have been shown to say “no one is beyond the law.”
The scene then shifts. The clown version of Meme Pepe snorted by its snorting before the video is cut into a processed meeting between Trump and Obama in an oval office. FBI agents come and go to Obama, who is later seen in prison cell wearing an orange jumpsuit. The arrest sequence is on the tone of “YMCA” by villagers, a song that Trump often uses in rallies.
Deepfakes and distractions?
The clip split the viewer. Trump supporters on Trump Social quickly celebrated it. Right-wing commentator Nick Sort tagged former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondy by writing to X “make this a reality.”
Meanwhile, critics called it a misleading inflammation. Some suggested that timing was not a coincidence.
Gabbard Factor
The video came just after former Democrat and now Trump's ally, Tarsi Gabbard, filed a new allegation against the Obama administration.
Talking to Fox News, Gabbard said, “The meaning of this is frankly not historical.”
She added: “Over 100 documents released Friday provide evidence of how this unpleasant plot was directed by President Obama just weeks before he resigned after President Trump was already elected.”
Gabbard claims that the Obama administration politicized the Intelligence News to burn the story of Russia's support of Trump's election. She said the documents will be introduced to the FBI and the Department of Justice for possible criminal cases.
According to Gabbard, “When Russia produced this manufactured information claiming that he helped Donald Trump get elected, all other assessments made earlier in the months leading up to the exact opposite elections, Russia had no intention or ability to “hack” the US election.”
She added, “So the effect of what President Obama and his senior national security team did was to destroy the will of the American people, undermine our Democratic Republic, and enact what would essentially be a long-standing coup against President Trump, officially elected by the American people.”
Democrats dismissed Gabbard's claim as inaccurate and politically charged. “It was another example of the national intelligence reporting director trying to cook a book,” replied Virginia Sen. Mark Warner, a leading Democrat on the Intelligence Reporting Committee.
Meanwhile, Trump supporters themselves questioned the timing, especially as the Trump administration faces surveillance over the handling of Jeffrey Epstein's files. Critics argue that AI videos and Gabbard's claims are being used elsewhere to attract attention.
This is not the first time Trump has posted inflammatory substances about his political opponent. On the same night, he also proposed to incarcerate Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff and shared digitally edited mug shots of former Obama-era officials like James Comey, Samantha Power and Susan Rice.
It's difficult to ignore the broader context. In May 2024, Trump was convicted of 34 felony charges for forging business records. It was the first time a former US president has been found guilty of a felony crime. He is currently suing a verdict.
The 2023 Supreme Court decision made it even more complicated. The president was exempt from official actions during his time in office and found it potentially protecting Trump and his past presidents from prosecution for their actions in an oval office.
