Nvidia announces that its next AI chip will be named “Rubin”

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced on Sunday that the company's next artificial intelligence (AI) chip platform is scheduled to debut in 2026.
According to ReutersThe upcoming AI chip will be named Rubin.
Speaking at the Computex trade fair at National Taiwan University in Taipei, Huang revealed that the Rubin chip family will include new graphics (GPU) and central processing unit (CPU) as well as networking chips.
However, Huang did not provide many details about the new platform.
This next-generation CPU, called Versa, will feature high-bandwidth memory from SK Hynix, Micron and Samsung, as well as next-generation graphics chips designed to power AI applications.
Meanwhile, Nvidia also plans to introduce a new family of AI chips every year, speeding up its previous roughly two-year release schedule.
Nvidia enjoys strong control over the AI chip market, with roughly 80% of the market share, which makes the company unique in that it will play a key role in enabling and benefiting from the growing field of AI.
Recent developments have put Nvidia on track to overtake Apple to become the second most valuable company in the world.
The company's astounding growth trajectory, which sees it rocket from $1 trillion to $2 trillion, will see it overtake tech giants such as Amazon, Google's Alphabet and Saudi Aramco by 2024.
