No more getting lost in translation: Vidby bridges language barriers with AI-powered video translation and dubbing

AI Video & Visuals

Over the last few decades, digital translation has brought people closer together than ever before by making it easier to understand each other’s words, intonation and context.

Vidby, an AI-powered language translation software maker, aims to “develop the technology to understand.” Vidby has developed AI-powered software that translates and voices videos across 70 languages with an unparalleled 99% accuracy.

To find out more, we spoke with Founder and Co-CEO Alexander Konovalov.

Alexander Konovalov lives in Switzerland and moved from Kiev in 2019. He claims that

“Our main goal is to develop technology for comprehension. is.”

Create high-quality videos in multiple languages, even if you know your native language.

Vidby offers voice-to-text translation and dubbing in multiple languages. Its primary customers are universities such as Harvard University, government and state organizations, and businesses.

Since the second day of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Vidby’s technology has been used to translate videos of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky into over 20 languages.

Our patented technology is also widely used in our internal and customer communications. For example, an internal instructional video detailing how to use or maintain or modify the product within your company.

It can also be used to localize content, reach new audiences, and generate additional revenue from digital advertising campaigns.

Konovalov envisions YouTube opening up the ability to upload different audio tracks in different languages of the same video.

“Bloggers will see translation as a way to further monetize, so they will look for cheaper ways to translate their videos and bring Vidby’s technology to a wider audience. I guess.”

Konovalov said the company has several key capabilities that set it apart from its competitors, such as dubbing instead of text translation.

he explains,

“We can also correct the pronunciation of brand names and surnames in different languages and adjust the tempo of text translations.” The company can also create voices for people of different age groups.

not perfect is good enough

Unusually, Vidby doesn’t limit itself to full translations. Instead, we offer translation and dubbing at different price points depending on the level of accuracy.

For example, internal videos may not need the same extraction grammar as customer or news videos. Customers can also pay extra to have a human check the transcription or dubbing, or have a human speak the audio instead of the AI.

AI translation is accelerating rapidly

The company currently only works with recorded video, but it is also developing technology for live translation of conferences and other events, which it plans to roll out in September.

We are also working on lip-syncing, which synchronizes the speaker’s lips with the translated dubbing.

Konovalov also explains, “For now, we are only working with the audio track of the video, but soon we will also be translating from the text of the video itself.”

The company also aims to accelerate technology development for different dialects of different languages.

With the acceleration of AI translation, the possibilities for global communication and collaboration are endless.
