Gujarat to set up GRIT think tank on the lines of NITI Aayog: CM Patel
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Saturday advocated for setting up a Gujarat State Transformative Research Institute (GRIT) on the model of the National Institute of Indian Technology Aayog (NITI Aayog), which acts as a public policy think tank for the central government.
Addressing a board meeting of the National Institute of Transnational Transformational India (NITI) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attended by chief ministers of states, Patel said Gujarat was committed to realising the Prime Minister's vision of making India a developed country by 2047.
Patel also unveiled the 'Gujarat 2047 Dynamic Document Roadmap' to realise the goal of making 'Self-reliant Gujarat' a 'Self-reliant Nation of India'.
Patel said the roadmap is built on two pillars — “earning an adequate income” and “living an adequate life” — and aims to improve people's quality of life and bring about economic prosperity.
The Chief Minister announced setting up of a think tank, Gujarat Research Institute for Transformative Innovation (GRIT), on the model of NITI Aayog, to achieve these goals in a systematic way.
He also adopted the Prime Minister's 'GYAN' slogan and affirmed his commitment to Gujarat's development vision by focusing on the development of Ghalib (poor), Yuva (youth), Annadata (farmers) and Naari (women).
Patel pointed out that Gujarat contributed 8.3 per cent to India's GDP in 2022-23 despite accounting for just 5 per cent of India's population.
Patel said Gujarat is marching ahead towards becoming a $3.5 trillion economy by 2047 and highlighted the state's achievements in key areas like PM Gati Shakti, Health, Nari Gaurav NITI, Shri Anna (Millets), Natural Farming, Digital Agriculture Mission, MSME and Amrit Sarovar.
He also outlined his plans for achieving future goals.
Gujarat Chief Secretary Raj Kumar also attended the 9th NITI Aayog Governing Council meeting.
