The question is: How has this changed surgery for both surgeons and patients? What about the cost? Da Vinci Surgical System. This is that photo. Look at this photo. This is a state-of-the-art robotic AI assistance system located in the operating room at New Hampshire Hospital in Nashua. Well, this is medical care in southern New Hampshire. That’s a hospital. This surgical suite is what is known to many as Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, now known as Southern New Hampshire Medical Center. Joining me in the studio is Dr. Joe Leahy, Chief Medical Officer for the Southern New Hampshire Health Department. and Leanne Berube, executive director of surgical services for the Southern New Hampshire Health Department. welcome. First of all, I assume you just bought this system last summer and are using it. What are the advantages of this system compared to the old-fashioned laparoscopic surgery that everyone who has had surgery is familiar with?This system is high-tech. of course. Yes, robotic systems allow surgeons to use laparoscopic instruments more precisely inside a patient’s abdomen. doctor. Plus, you’ll also get a better field of view. If you read articles about AI and robotics, they describe AI as transformative, and before I show you the video, I want to say that we’re still trying to be a surgeon in control. Robots and AI are wrong. is that so? We are not. The surgeon is always in control. Understood. Yeah. We don’t have autonomous robots. This is a short video. Let’s see this new robotic AI system in action. And this is it. Could you please explain this and tell us what we are considering? of course. This is Dr. McKee, one of our minimally invasive robotic surgeons. She performs laparoscopic or robotic-assisted cholecystectomy (cholecystectomy). here. She can be seen sitting at the console with very limited movement. She is able to control laparoscopic instruments within the patient’s abdomen. This results in a smaller incision site for the patient and faster healing overall. Therefore, this patient was able to come to the hospital on the morning of the surgery and go home just a few hours after cholecystectomy. Yes, Dr. Lee. Well, basically you need a team. Although it takes some time to prepare, the surgical time is short, the patient experiences less pain after surgery, and the patient can be discharged from the hospital on the same day, which is very advantageous. Yeah. That’s right. Later in the video, Dr. Frost could be seen performing a total knee replacement using a robotic system. This actually provides a 3D mapping of the patient’s unique anatomy, making it very precise where each part of the new knee can be implanted. The National Institutes of Health has calculated some of the results of this new procedure. This new da Vinci surgical system is called What You Bought. Surgical time was reduced by 25%, intraoperative complications were reduced by 30%, targeting accuracy was improved by 40%, postoperative pain was reduced by 15%, and healthcare costs were reduced by 10%.
