According to reports from Chuo TsushinshaChina's State Affairs Committee Intelligence Bureau held a press conference on August 14th, highlighting the achievements of the country's “14th Five-Year Plan” (2021-2025). Of these, China's total computing power is reportedly ranked second in the world, but the AI application scale is growing rapidly. As cited in the report, the official highlighted that China accounts for 60% of the world's total AI patents.
China's national data management officials have noted the rapid growth of the country's AI application scale. As quoted in the report, he said, as of the end of June this year, China's average daily token consumption was above 30 trillion, an increase of more than 300 times in just a year and a half.
He further noted that as of the end of June, China had constructed over 35,000 high quality datasets, with a total of over 400 petabytes (PB), as cited in the report.
The report cites Chinese officials, adding that AI model training is increasing demand for data transactions, and that cumulative trading values for high-quality data sets across the country reached nearly RMB4 billion at the end of June this year.
At the same time, a survey by China's National Institute of Data Development found that the number of data companies in China exceeded 400,000 in 2024, and as the report points out, the data industry has reached RMB5.86 trillion.
Huawei's Harmonyos is also highlighted as a representative of the rapid rise of China's domestic operating system. As stated and quoted in the report, the Harmonyos Ecosystem has over 1.19 billion devices and powers more than 1,200 products, including smartphones, cars and home appliances.
