The Newport Area Chamber of Commerce and the Newport Economic Development Committee (NEDC) provide new tools for local businesses, landowners and real estate agents. Jon Chadwell, executive director of the Newport Economic Development Committee, now has access to Advanced Data Analytics reports powered by Placer.ai, the Location Intelligence platform.
The Chamber of Commerce and NEDC have purchased a subscription to software for use to grow local businesses and adopt new businesses in the community. Placer.ai uses anonymized mobile device data to provide deep insight into consumer behavior and market trends, he said.
These reports include walking patterns, trade area mapping, customer journey analysis, competitive benchmarks, demographics, psychology, length of stay, frequency of visits, event impact, and more.
Through this partnership, Chamber Member Business can receive 20-25 pages of reports for free, over membership fees. These reports typically cost between $500 and $1,500 if purchased through a private consultant.
The number of reports each business can receive each year is based on membership level. The report can even benchmark local chain businesses for state and national performance and provide market insights.
Landlords and real estate agents can access free reports if they are members of the Chamber of Commerce or by involving NEDC in recruitment visits with future tenants of the location. Reports focusing on these properties may include traffic count, nearby business activities, community business patterns, updated demographic data, and more.
To help the business community understand how to use the tool, Newport Chamber and NEDC will be holding an information session at Thetech Depot on June 23rd. Participants will receive an overview of what is available through Placer.ai and how to maximize the value of the data.
Starting from July 1, 2025, Placer.AI Reports will be available to local businesses on request. Reports are processed on a first come, first served basis. Upon receipt of the completed intake form, the chamber and NEDC will provide applicants with an estimated completion date for the report.
