VP and CISO Rick Doten talks about the often overlooked risks of relying on generative AI

Bias lurks everywhere in generative artificial intelligence: the data, the models, and the humans who interpret the model outputs. Rick Doten, vice president of information security at Centene Corp. and CISO at Carolina Complete Health, said one of the biggest emerging security threats is relying on AI to generate critical business decisions. He said that this is why he is doing so.

“Yes, there is a possibility of contamination. Yes, there is a possibility of something being written to the data,” he said. “Having unreliable data drive business decisions is critical.”
While security risks such as instant deployment can be mitigated with guardrails, Doten advises organizations to develop use cases and assess the risks associated with them, as generative AI cannot currently distinguish fact from fiction. I am.
