The report assessed salary trends across various new-age functions including AI/ML, cloud computing, data science and analytics, cyber security, digital marketing, UI/UX design, and software development.

Further, the hiring landscape for Indian companies is undergoing a major transformation with a 41% increase in the number of skill assessments conducted over the last two years (2022-2024), highlighting the growing importance of skill verification in the modern job market, the report said.

“Last year, 72% of companies valued a candidate's adaptability and commitment to continuous learning over their degree or experience. This year, that number has risen to 81%. As organizations embrace this change, choosing the right approach to skills assessment and selecting the right tools will be key to making informed hiring decisions. Increased skill-based hiring will undoubtedly lead to a more level playing field for job seekers,” said Sekhar Garitha, CEO, Foundit.

According to the report, cloud computing ratings increased by 55%, followed by AI and ML skills ratings increasing by 50%, digital marketing skills ratings increasing by 40% and product management skills ratings increasing by 30%.

According to the report, the increase in AI/ML skills assessment coincides with a 50% increase in enrollments in AI/ML courses, driven by the growing application of AI technologies in industry.

“AI and ML job postings grew 12 percent last year. Other new-age skills are also seeing a surge in new job opportunities. For example, UI/UX design roles have grown 35 percent annually, project management roles have increased 30 percent, while digital marketing and content writing roles have grown 28 percent each,” the report adds.
