Netscout Systems has released a new version of its Arbor Edge Defense (AED) inline security appliance that provides machine learning-based adaptive DDoS protection.
AEDs now automatically protect networks from DDoS attacks, Netscout said in a prepared statement.

AEDs are placed at the network edge to provide an “inline, always-on first and last line of defense,” Netscout said. Stop DDoS attacks and outbound communications from compromised devices that communicate with threat actor command and control (C2) infrastructure using stateless packet processing, global threat intelligence, and adaptive DDoS mitigation technology.
According to Netscout, AEDs allow organizations to screen incoming and outgoing network traffic to block DDoS attacks and other cyberthreats. Doing so minimizes the load on firewalls, load balancers, or virtual private network (VPN) concentrators and prevents malware from spreading throughout your network.
In addition, AEDs block outbound communications sent from compromised internal devices to sites operated by malicious parties, NetScout said. In the event of a large-scale volumetric DDoS attack, AED utilizes cloud signaling that integrates with cloud DDoS protection providers to coordinate response between cloud-based volumetric protection and on-premises adaptive DDoS attack protection .

A new version of the AED has been launched after Netscout reported increased revenue in several areas for fiscal year 23.
