Naver enhances push to AI video and XR content to build an in-house media ecosystem

Seoul, July 17th (Korea Bizwire) – South Korean internet conglomerate Naver Corp. said on Thursday it plans to introduce artificial intelligence-powered video tools and augmented reality platforms in the second half of 2025 to bolster efforts to establish its own live broadcast media ecosystem.

The company said it has expanded. Immersive Media Platformleveraging the full stack video infrastructure including production, preprocessing, transmission and playback, and the use of media technologies developed over 10 years. The initiative reflects Naver's broader strategy to elicit a growing demand for virtual and immersive content across the media, e-commerce and entertainment sectors.

“Naver is entering a new era by integrating AI into video media technologies that have been building for many years,” the company said in a statement. The company has announced what is called the “Vision Tech Triangle,” with Media AI, XR (Extended Reality) Studios and virtual streaming capabilities.

Naver's media operations date back to 2012, when Naver TV cast was released. Since then, they have launched live streaming platforms such as Now and Vlive, as well as interactive services such as Shopping Live and Chzzk, which allow real-time engagement during e-commerce events, game broadcasts, and K-pop concerts.

The company highlighted its technical advantages in maintaining a stable live stream under a wide range of network conditions. In 2024, Naver debuted AI Encodinga compression solution that reduces video transmission load by up to 30% without degrading quality.

Two new AI-equipped tools –Moore and Autoclipai– It will be released later this year. The tool allows creators to analyze video contexts, generate automated summaries, and extract highlight clips from text and blog images.

To enhance the production capabilities of content, Naver recently opened two XR-focused studios: Vision Stage and Motion Stage, at Seongnam's headquarters just south of Seoul. Vision Stage provides customizable virtual backgrounds for video content, and the motion stage supports real-time 3D animations for Chzzk streamers.

On the mobile side, Naver's Prism Live Studio The APP integrates 3D streaming with in-house AI and virtual avatar functionality.

Naver is also betting on the long-term growth of the XR segment, all categories of augmented, virtual and mixed reality, as adoption of VR hardware gradually expands.
