Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Ministry of Labor is leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) technology to enhance labor market analysis and training planning, supporting more adaptive, data-driven employment policies tailored to workforce needs.
In a statement in Jakarta on Monday, the ministry’s Secretary-General Chris Kuntadi said digital technologies, especially AI, have become a major catalyst for transforming the landscape of the workforce, the way we learn and the way governments design public policies.
“The main mission of the Ministry of Human Resources is to ensure that no workforce is left behind. The challenge is not just to provide training, but to ensure that it is relevant to industrial development. This is where AI will play a key role,” Kuntadi said.
He further outlined four key roles for AI in supporting the employment ecosystem. Its role is to rapidly map workforce needs across various industry sectors, identify competency gaps that require immediate attention, develop adaptive training plans that meet industry needs, and support decision-making based on evidence rather than assumptions.

However, Kuntadi stressed that technology is just a tool. Human resources (HR) readiness remains key to the success of this transformation.
He went on to say that government officials and workers are required to have an adaptive mindset and a spirit of continuous learning.
“Let’s leverage AI as a strategic partner to improve public services, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and increase the competitiveness of Indonesia’s workforce on the world stage,” he said.
Mr Kuntadi also expressed optimism that Indonesia can take a big leap towards a good future of employment.
“The key capitals of a rich workforce, a spirit of mutual cooperation, and a digital learning culture need to be seamlessly combined with the power of AI technology,” he said.
