Microsoft will pay to use humanity's technology for some AI capabilities in the Office 365 app, information reported Tuesday, with an indication that software companies are diversifying their artificial intelligence portfolio.

The move will fuse humanity and Openai technology into the app a few years after Microsoft primarily used Openai for new features in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, the report says.

Microsoft is developing its own AI model, but has integrated Deepseek's model into Azure Cloud to maximize AI output and meet the growing demand.

Openai's biggest financial backer, investing more than $13 billion in AI startups and earning a head start in AI racing for the company's model.

Developers who are creating Office AI capabilities have found that the latest model of humanity performs better than OpenAI, including automating tasks such as Excel's financial capabilities and generating instruction-based PowerPoint presentations, the report says.

According to the report, Microsoft will pay for cloud rival Amazon web services and access the human model. AWS is one of the largest shareholders of humanity.

Microsoft, Anthropic, AWS, and Openai did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment.

While the launch of the GPT-5 Openai is a step up in quality, Anthropic's Claude Sonnet 4 performs better in creating more aesthetically pleasing PowerPoint presentations, the report says.

Microsoft is planning to announce the move in the coming weeks, and the price of Office's AI tools remains the same, the report said.
