– While the White House charts the course for the future of AI, Microsoft is expanding the AI ecosystem onto its own platform. His Dan Howley from Yahoo Finance explains the details. Dan, there are many announcements being made that could certainly lead him to AI assistants while using Microsoft products.
Dan Howley: Well, one of the main products they announced is this new Windows co-pilot. Basically what they are talking about is a new kind of AI assistant for Windows 11. This is the one that resides in the taskbar. I’ll open it for you.
And it will appear on the right side of the screen. You can also interact and ask questions just like you would in Bing Chat, and even request actions like adjusting some Windows settings. Get information from other apps and quickly summarize them. Drop a file there and it will run. Everything you can think of today with chatbots, you can do with it.
So this is one of the biggest announcements we’ve seen so far. Microsoft used to have Cortana. It’s like getting an axe. This is apparently going to replace it, or has replaced it. It was completed some time ago.
But they also announced some more software. This includes Azure AI Studio. This is where companies can take their own data and dump it into a kind of co-pilot chatbot to create their own data. This basically means that Microsoft provides users with the types of apps they can use.
So if you’re a company and you offer multiple health plans to your employees, and you’re looking for a health plan that covers classes for a particular employee, type “show me a health plan that covers glasses”. can. and spit it out. This way you don’t have to go through tons of documents. You can get exactly what you need from there. This is one of the other developments we have seen.
And finally, the big announcement, and perhaps one of the most important announcements, is that ChatGPT (base search engine, default search engine) will become Microsoft’s Bing. That means Bing will be in front of more people. This will be the out-of-the-box default for subscribed ChatGPT plus users.
Free users will need to activate the plugin, but will be able to use Bing as their default. This is a big deal, as Microsoft says revenue could reach as high as $2 billion, even with just a 1% market share in the search market. So the more people you can show it off to, the better.
– It would certainly be a big deal for them. We know they are struggling to get that market share. Dan, we had a big announcement from Apple today, revealing some details about the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference next month. What should you expect?
Dan Howley: That’s right, WWDC takes place on June 5th in Cupertino. In addition to live events, online distribution is also planned. And they showed off a little app teaser GIF of his SWIFT logo, which kind of looks like a lens. And it’s you who’s hinting at the idea that eventually there will be an AI or sorry his VR-AR headset. And that’s something that’s been heavily rumored to show up at WWDC. maybe $3,000
The AR-VR headset space isn’t all that exciting. So it’s not exactly broken. But for now, the metaverse concept has been overtaken by generative AI. So if anyone can bring it to life and actually make people more interested, it’s Apple. So we will find out on June 5th.
