“As AI advances rapidly, we are early adopters across our business, from engineering and manufacturing to design and customer care, embedding AI directly into our vehicles from the new digital cabin to the core vehicle operating system,” said Ned Curic, chief engineering and technology officer at Stellantis. “Through our collaboration with Microsoft, we are accelerating AI momentum across the enterprise, giving our teams the tools to innovate faster and deliver the products, services, and experiences our customers expect from us,” he said.

Stellantis wants to use AI to improve product development and create customer-facing features such as predictive maintenance algorithms and in-vehicle efficiency coaching. AI will also harden Stellantis against cyber-attacks and make connected services more resilient, the company said. As an example, “Jeep drivers benefit from reliable connectivity and protected data access, even in remote locations, giving them confidence wherever they travel,” the company said.

Perhaps surprisingly, this does not mean a major expansion of Stellantis’ server farm. The companies say they want to reduce their data center footprint by 60% by 2029 and do more with less.
