Singapore, August 1, 2025 – Microsoft and Digital Industry Singapore (sig) today announced the Agent AI Accelerator Program as part of the Singapore Government's Enterprise Compute Initiative (ECI).
For the next 12 months, the Agent AI Accelerator Program will provide up to 300 Singapore-based companies with baseline support for Azure cloud credits, AI training and tools up to S$250,000. Additionally, Microsoft will fund services up to S$700,000 to jointly develop an Agent AI Roadmap with Microsoft Technology Partners, which are eligible for approval. This package complements the support that the Singapore government will supplement the 1$105,000 limit for consulting costs on a joint payment basis, to create its own AI Center of Excellence with the support of Microsoft and technology partners.
Through this initiative, Microsoft will enable businesses to become “frontier companies.” This is an organization powered by a hybrid human team working with AI agents. As AI agents increasingly demonstrate their ability to reason, plan and execute as digital labor, Microsoft's latest work trend index reveals that 82% of Singapore's business leaders will roll out to expand their employee capabilities within the next 12-18 months. For a future-looking organization ready to embrace Agent AI, Microsoft is committed to making bold investments that will enable it to transform into frontier companies over the next year.
“At Microsoft, we see frontier companies as the future. It's a new type of organization where teams of human and AI agents work together to scale faster, move more agile, and create value in new ways.” Cynthia Yoh, Managing Director, Microsoft Singapore. “As a leader in both generator AI and cutting-edge agent AI, Microsoft is committed to helping businesses become frontier companies by scaling AI that is intuitive, secure, and integrated into everyday workflows.
Supporting ECI and launching the Agent AI Accelerator is built on Microsoft Singapore's vision for the AI Pinnacle program. The initiative aims to transform AI-powered industries, including joint approvals with major local organizations ranging from law to healthcare, maritime and aviation.
Microsoft Research Asia – Singapore Lab was recently launched with support from the Economic Development Committee. It also offers Agent AI Accelerator participants the opportunity to engage with world-class scientists through in-depth research collaborations, lectures and training workshops and discover groundbreaking new AI use cases.
Today's total launch event was blessed with Senior Minister of Trade and Industry (MTI) and Senior Minister of Culture, Community and Youth (MCCY) Lou Yen Lin.
“Increasing access to AI tools and services is crucial to enabling Singapore-based companies to gain competitive advantage.” I said Filbert Gomez, Head and Executive Director of Digital Industry Singapore, Senior Vice President. “We are pleased to partner with Microsoft, the forefront of AI and Cloud Innovation. This will provide access to hundreds of Singapore-based Azure Services and cutting-edge AI tools, which will help businesses cope with the pace of change and reveal new opportunities from Singapore.”
As ECI's cloud partner, Microsoft supports the government's vision to accelerate AI adoption by establishing AI Centers of Excellence (COE) across the industry. Through this initiative, Microsoft offers technology partners and bespoke solutions to help businesses overcome key business challenges and unlock competitive differentiation using AI. Microsoft is uniquely positioned to support the Singapore business community to deliver concrete AI outcomes, including operational scaling, productivity gains, and customer experience innovation.
Local businesses have expressed support for the Agent AI Accelerator approach, including NCS and Rajah & Tann, with leaders talking about the organization's AI Transformation Journey as part of a panel at today's event.
“AI is entering a new stage – agent AI that allows systems to act with greater autonomy and purpose.” Ying Shao Wei, NCS Chief Scientist. “NCS embeds this into real-life operations through partnerships with clients like Microsoft, governments, and technology leaders like Microsoft, and has received support from agencies like Digs.
“Law is an industry where accuracy and trust are not negotiable,” he said. Rajesh Sreenivasan, partner Head, Technology, Media, Telecommunications, Raja & Tan. “Law firms are constantly paying attention to disruptive technologies as accountability for the output from such technologies remains constantly as experts. As we understand the risks of these key priorities and practices, we are proud to offer our ability to deliver safe, seamlessly integrated enterprise solutions. We will drive Singapore forward with innovation in the AI and legal sector.”
