Microsoft's internal tracking tool has revealed which executives AI CEO Mustafa Suleiman is working with the most in his first few months on the job.
Microsoft hired Suleiman in March.The head of startup Inflection AI and co-founder of AI pioneer DeepMind has been named CEO of the newly formed Microsoft AI Group, a division of Microsoft that will oversee the company's AI program. Copilot AI Chatbot And the Bing search engine.
An internal organizational chart viewed by Business Insider shows that there are 12 executives reporting directly to Suleiman, including Inflexion co-founder Karen Simonyan and several Microsoft veterans who spent decades at the software giant.
The Org Chart includes a tool called “People I Work With,” which shows employees with whom a person has recently interacted.

Yusuf Mehdi, Chief Consumer Marketing Officer
Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of Modern Life, Search and Devices at Microsoft Nick Adams/Reuters
Mehdi is a member of Microsoft's senior leadership team and runs the company's consumer business, which, at least until the new AI organization is formed, includes the Copilot AI assistant, the Microsoft Edge browser, the Bing search engine, the Surface line of devices and consumer versions of the Microsoft 365 software suite.
Kevin Scott, Chief Technology Officer, Microsoft

Kevin Scott is the chief technology officer and executive vice president of AI at Microsoft. He is credited with establishing Microsoft's successful partnership with OpenAI and is responsible for the company's AI strategy.
“Kevin was the first person I turned to to manage our transformation into an AI-first company, and I will continue to rely on him to ensure our AI strategy and efforts are consistent across Microsoft,” CEO Satya Nadella wrote in a memo announcing Suleiman's hiring earlier this year.
Amy Hood, Chief Financial Officer

Amy Hood is Microsoft's finance chief and is heavily involved in the company's AI strategy. During the company's most recent earnings call, Hood said Microsoft plans to significantly increase spending.
According to documents seen by Business Insider, Microsoft has an internal goal of accumulating 1.8 million AI chips by the end of 2024. The company recently significantly expanded its data center capacity, according to a separate internal document.
Rajesh Jha, executive vice president, Experiences and Devices:

Rajesh Jha leads Microsoft's experiences and devices team, which until recently included several thousand employees who now report to Suleiman.
Two Microsoft insiders told BI that these teams need to be more dedicated and that Jha is not seen as having the consumer vision they are looking for.
Jha continues to operate key products such as the Microsoft 365 suite of business applications and the Teams chat app.
Caitlin McCabe, CEO and Chief of Staff
McCabe is Satya Nadella's chief of staff. He has been in charge of communications for the CEO since October 2013, according to his LinkedIn profile, before Nadella took over in early 2014. McCabe has been in his current role since September. Nadella himself is not on Suleiman's “people I work with” list.
John Tinter, Corporate Vice President, Business Development
Tinter, who reports to trading chief Chris Young in charge of business development at Microsoft, has expertise within Suleiman's purview given his longtime focus on business development for Microsoft's search, advertising and news businesses.
