Micron Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: MU) today announced a strategic agreement with Anthropic that spans memory and storage AI architecture design, supply and demand, enterprise adoption of Claude across Micron, and a strategic investment in Anthropic’s Series H funding round. This agreement directly ties the demands of frontier AI models to how infrastructure is designed, supplied, and deployed at scale. “The AI revolution has permanently elevated the role of memory and storage solutions from the data center to the edge,” said Sumit Sadhana, Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer, Micron. “The strategic alliance between Micron and Anthropic will combine our industry-leading capabilities to innovate and scale next-generation AI infrastructure.”
“Our compute strategy relies on getting every layer of the stack right, and memory and storage are at the core of how efficiently we can train and service our clouds,” said Tom Brown, co-founder and chief computing officer at Anthropic. “Partnering with Micron means we will work closely together to optimize these systems for our workloads and ensure we have the supplies we need. As demand for Claude grows, this is how we will scale our computing over time.”
AI memory and storage infrastructure
Frontier AI models require uncompromising performance from memory and storage infrastructure. The collaboration focuses on memory and storage technologies to improve the way AI systems are built and scaled. Micron’s portfolio of high-bandwidth memory (HBM), DRAM, and SSDs supports performance, power efficiency, and total cost of ownership across AI training and inference.
Micron and Anthropic analyze how memory and storage subsystems behave in different workloads and interact across the infrastructure stack. This effort is expected to help enhance memory and storage performance, energy efficiency, and token economics in Anthropic’s AI infrastructure.
supply contract
Under the technology partnership, Micron and Anthropic have entered into a memory and storage supply agreement across Micron’s industry-leading data center portfolio. This positions Micron to support Anthropic’s multi-year growth trajectory as Frontier AI Labs expands its computing strategy over time.
Claude is hired by Micron
An early adopter of AI, Micron adopted Anthropic’s Claude Model to accelerate coding and enable more advanced agent use cases across engineering, manufacturing, and enterprise functions. These models have been applied to some of the most complex and high-impact challenges and continue to yield meaningful gains in productivity and innovation. As the capabilities and autonomy of AI systems continue to evolve, the company expects to unlock new ways to design, build, and operate at scale.
strategic investment
In addition to technology collaborations and supply agreements, Micron made a strategic investment in Anthropic’s Series H funding round, reflecting a shared focus on the infrastructure advances needed to support next-generation AI.
