In a critical move, Meta is working with artificial intelligence (AI) startup Midjourney to license its image and video generation technology.
On Friday, August 22, 2025, Meta Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang announced that the platform will work with MidJourney to incorporate cutting-edge tools into future AI models and products.
According to Wang, Meta has adopted a “all existence approach,” partnering with leading experts, using advanced computing resources and working with key players in the technical field.
The deal could help the meta outperform their competitors, including Google's VEO, Openai's Sora and Black Forest Lab's Flux.

Earlier this year, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg invested heavily in AI talent, spent billions of dollars on scale AI, bought AI to play audio startups, and offered researchers various reward packages.
In particular, Meta considered partnering with high-tech billionaire Elon Musk's $97 billion purchase bid, but that declined.
Founded in 2022, Midjourney solidifies its place among the top AI image generators with its comprehensive suite of advanced features, realistic styles and subscription-based models that generate up to $200 million a year.
