META has signed a partnership with Midjourney, an AI service that can generate images and videos from text prompts. According to Meta's chief AI executive, Alexandre Wang, Meta has licensed the “aesthetic technology” of the Mid Journey for future models and products. “Every existential approach must be taken to ensure that the meta delivers the best possible product. This means working with world-class talent, an ambitious computing roadmap and the best players across the industry,” Wang added.

The company previously launched its own AI image generator and AI video editor, but Midjourney's technology helps provide services that can actually compete with their rivals, such as Openai's Sora and Google's VEO. Midjourney made the V7 the default model for image generation in June. The V7 is described as a “altogether new” AI image generation model that is much smarter to handle text prompts than its predecessor. Additionally, the V1 video model has been released, allowing you to turn the generated images into short animated videos at the same time. “We were very impressed with Midjourney. They have achieved a real feat of technical and aesthetic excellence and are excited to work closer together with them,” Wang said on X.

The partnership has led to the quest to form the Superintelligence Laboratory, leading to the AI space's quest to become a leading player. Mark Zuckerberg was able to convince several of his rivals to join his company by hiring employment, offering large pay and signing bonuses. Wang himself became the company's main AI office after Meta invested $14.8 billion in AI, the company he founded.
