The announcement comes from Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who shared a series of examples on Instagram. One is a fuzzy creature hops between the cubes. In the other, the cat kneads the dough, and yet another cat runs through the watery fields. One clip showed a woman in ancient Egyptian outfit and snapped a selfie on her balcony.
According to Meta, users will be able to scroll through videos created by artists and creators on the platform. If you spend more time on the feed, the algorithm will begin to adjust the content to your preferences.
The company says on its website that users can create their own AI videos from scratch or remix what they find in their feed. Users can add visuals, music and a variety of styles. The final creation can be posted to Vibes Feed, sent via DM, or shared on Insta and Facebook stories and reels.
Meta's AI Chief Officer, Alexandre Wan, used the thread to explain further. “In this early version, we continue to develop our own models behind the scenes while partnering with Midjourney and Black Forest Labs.” He called it a “preview of where Meta AI is heading,” adding, “I can't wait to see how people experiment.”
The timing of this release is interesting given that Meta advised creators to focus on “real storytelling” rather than pumping out short “uninventive” videos in July. It seems that the company is now leaning towards exactly that kind of content.
This move comes as the meta increases efforts in the AI space. Meta recently rebuilt its AI team in the face of pressure from rivals such as Openai, Anthropic and Google Deepmind. In June, Meta established a new division called “Meta Superintelligence Labs,” attracting top employees from its major rivals.
