Canal+ partners with Google to power AI-driven video production

AI Video & Visuals

French media group Canal+ has announced a multi-year partnership with Google Cloud to bring generative artificial intelligence across its production operations and streaming platforms, News.Az reported, citing Reuters.

The deal gives Canal+ access to Google’s Veo 3 AI, allowing production teams to pre-visualize scenes before filming and recreate historic moments from a single archival photo. The tool will also be available to production companies producing films supported by Canal+.

Additionally, Canal+ uses AI to index your entire content library to improve personalized recommendations in the Canal+ app. The rollout will cover the European and African markets and will begin rolling out in June 2026.

This partnership includes strong intellectual property protection, ensuring Canal+ retains full rights and ownership of its creative assets. Canal+ aims to leverage AI technology to compete with global streaming giants such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, and aims to have up to 100 million subscribers by 2030.
