Meta is planning to announce a $15 billion (£11 billion) bid to achieve computerized “Superintelligence,” according to multiple reports.
Silicon Valley Race to dominate artificial intelligence is speeding up despite the patchy performance of many existing AI systems.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg will announce that he will purchase a 49% stake in Scale AI, led by King Alexandre and co-founded by Lucie Guo, in a move explained by one Silicon Valley analyst as the “wartime CEO” action.
Super Intelligence is described as a type of AI that can perform better than humans on all tasks. Currently, AI cannot reach the same level as humans on all tasks. This is known as Artificial General Information (AGI). Recent research has shown that many mainstream systems will collapse when highly complex puzzles are presented.
After significant advancements from competitors including Sam Altman's Openai and Google, and heavy investments in Meta's Metaverse Flopped concept, meta attempts are being seen by observers, if the company's progress and targets are recaptured's initiatives around AI, if the current state of progress and targets are not insecure.
In March, 28-year-old Wang signed a contract to build a US Department of Defense system called Thunderforge, and applied AI to US military planning and operations, starting with Indo-Pacific and European commands. The company also received early investments from the Peter Thiel founder fund.
The move by meta has led to new calls for the European government to launch its own, more transparent research push to ensure that technology is robustly developed, while maintaining the public trust equivalent to AI equivalent to Swiss CERN European Nuclear Research Institute.
“They're making the most of the AI,” said Michael Woldridge, professor at the Oxford University Foundation for Artificial Intelligence. “We can't trust that we understand and trust the technology we are developing, as governments work together to develop AI openly and robustly. [AI] It seems to be just as important as CERN and particle accelerators. ”
Wooldridge said the reported deal “seems very similar to Meta's attempt to regain the initiative after Metaverse didn't take off, and they invested an epic amount for that.
But he says that the state of AI development is patchy, AGI is still far apart, and don't mind “Superintelligence.”
“We have AI that can do really impressive things, but we fail with the absolutely simple task of capable GCSE students not fail,” he said.
“It reflects the availability of AI companies from anywhere, whether they acquire young AI companies or shout out the university's division,” said Andrew Rogoiski, director of partnerships and innovation at the University of Surrey's People-centered AI Institute.
He said Meta's strategy for AI is different from something like Openai or humanity in that it is not a core purpose but an enabler of Meta's business.
“That means they're not so desperate to achieve AGI, so they can afford to take a longer perspective,” he said.
It was reported that the King would win an advanced position in Meta.
Meta declined to comment. Scale AI will be contacted for comments.
