Editing videos with AI is no longer groundbreaking, but Meta is not only catching up to the party, but it seems there is a lack of ideas for Meta AI.
On Wednesday, Meta announced that it is rolling out new video editing capabilities for Meta AI, allowing users to apply amazing, easy, easy preset conversions to short clips.
These tools are available for Meta AI apps, the Meta.ai website, and Meta's new CapCut style editor editing. You don't need to be a professional editor to use it. All you have to do is choose from over 50 preset prompts and your video will be edited in seconds.
If you want to convert casual videos into retro backgrounds or turn them into anime characters, Meta AI is all possible. It looks cool, but this tool only works in the first 10 seconds of the video.
Like the Instagram filters, presets feel familiar, but this isn't surprising. Meta has collected feedback from the creators to create playful and easy to apply presets. You can also share your edited clips directly to Instagram or Facebook, or post them to Discover Feed within the Meta AI app.
For now, however, creativity is limited to the available presets. Although you cannot enter a text prompt to guide the editing process, Meta says the feature will arrive later this year. That future upgrade could make the experience much more dynamic, allowing you to fine-tune your edits with natural language commands instead of choosing from a set of fixed options.
AI results may not always match the refined demos of the meta, as there are reports from Odd Visual Artifacts or some users with slightly creepy effects, but they are still a major step forward in creating accessible videos.
But while Meta is very late for this feature, it places availability directly in conflict with similar AI tools developed by startups like Google and Captions.
