
According to a report that does not provide an individual ranking, 50 of the world's top 100 AI experts work for Chinese research institutions or companies, and are of Chinese origin.
Another 20 AI experts from around the world work in a US laboratory. In particular, half of them are of Chinese descent, including Jun Yanzu, an assistant professor at the Computer Science School at Carnegie Mellon University, earning a total of 65 out of 100.
The analysis featured over 96,000 high-level papers from major publications such as the Journal of Machine Learning Research and IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence from 2015 to 2024.
The researchers assessed the impact of each AI scientist by counting and analyzing the number of papers and citations generated during the study period.
