Starting this week, Max will add AI components to the Autoplay video preview on its homepage. This is a clip that starts playing when the user passes the title.
The feature is designed to improve content discovery and is now available on all US adult profiles across all subscription layers on connected TV devices, resulting in a video preview that first launched on the platform earlier this year.
However, users who count themselves among many who strongly dislike Autoplay videos on streaming services can turn off the video and audio features from the Settings and Play menu.
Additionally, WBD will launch a new in-house AI assist tool in the coming weeks and will be used to identify and propose popular, recognizable short scenes from library content featured as previews. This tool helps to recommend outstanding scenes for Max teams to choose to use on their homepage.

The latest homepage update comes after Max launched its updated navigation menu in January, moving the Home, Series, Movies, HBO, B/R Sports and CNN Max categories from the top of the page to the left. We also introduced a “What's New's” navigation page that shows content and “categories” that have recently arrived or will soon be leaving the platform. This allows users to view collections of genres, brands and themes.
We also introduced the “Channel” function in December. This allows subscribers to stream live HBO programming feeds directly from the service's app through Simulcast. Channels include HBO, HBO2, HBO signatures, HBO comedy, and HBO zones.
Max will of course become known as Max later this summer. This name will return to HBO Max.
Additionally, Max will return to HBO Max this summer, whilst deploying password sharing bullets.
