Makemytrip: MakeMyTrip Brings Generative AI to Travel Bookings and Collaborates with Microsoft

AI News

Generative AI Techtown attracts a lot of interest. The latest company to jump on the bandwagon is leading travel portal MakeMyTrip. According to a press release issued by the company, MakeMyTrip is working with Microsoft and plans to use generative AI “We will make travel planning more comprehensive and accessible by introducing voice-assisted booking in Indian languages.”
How MakeMyTrip Uses Generative AI
A few months ago, Microsoft announced the integration of OpenAI’s generative AI technology into Azure and Azure Cognitive Services. MakeMyTrip uses a stack powered by two Azure services to interact with users and provide personalized travel recommendations based on their preferences. These include holiday packages curated based on various inputs such as occasion, budget, activity preferences, and travel time.
The integration is currently in beta for customers in English and Hindi for flights and holidays. According to MakeMyTrip, the next phase of the voice-assisted booking flow will also cover other modes of transportation. This feature is embedded in the platform landing page and can be activated with a single click.
Like many other platforms, MakeMyTrip uses AI and machine learning. Microsoft’s large language and Indic voice models, coupled with MakeMyTrip’s natural language understanding capabilities and travel domain content, create the foundation for users to interact with the platform in any Indian language.
MakeMyTrip relies on Azure OpenAI Service’s GPT technology to analyze specific user requirements and provide a customized, hassle-free experience. Users can also get a summary of hotel reviews.
