kuala lumpur: Malaysia's Anti-Corruption Committee is strengthening its anti-transplant measures by leveraging artificial intelligence and digital systems to accelerate research and strengthening governance.
MACC Deputy Chief of the Year, Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya said corrupt crimes have spread through digital transactions, including cryptocurrency and virtual financial systems.
“Artificial intelligence emerges as a new strategic weapon in the fight against corruption, not to replace humans, but to empower institutions such as the MACC,” he told Bernama.
He explained that AI allowed investigators to filter thousands of financial files within minutes and detect anomalous transactions.
“By using platforms like Sentinel: Criminal Intelligence Analytics, the research period can now be reduced in just a few years to just a few months,” he said.
Ahmad Khusairi noted that AI also serves as an early warning system that can detect extraordinary luxury lifestyles and analyze high-risk public projects.
The committee has implemented a variety of digital systems to improve service management and internal communication along with AI capabilities.
These include centralized management of complaints and digital case item management implemented via a dedicated platform.
MACC uses systems that promote interaction with other agencies, particularly in the management of corruption risk and development of anti-corruption programs.
Public agency consistency unit monitoring and reporting systems have also been introduced along with special databases for preventive activities.
In Public Communications, MACC introduced a virtual executive avatar known as SARA on Tiktok to provide an anti-corruption message.
The use of AI in MACC's media management has won several awards, including the Gold Award at the 5th ASEAN PR Excellence Awards 2025.
Ahmad Khusairi said that AI and blockchain technology will pave the way for absolute transparency in public procurement systems.
“AI is not replacing humans, it is strengthening its fight against corruption while maintaining public opinion,” he emphasized.
MACC acknowledges the risks of data security and confidentiality in leveraging digital technology and AI.
