Claim: It's likely that a virus video of former President Kuhur, who says the NPP has sidelined him, has been generated
sauce: Peter Mac Manu, former NPP national president
verdict: error!

Peter Mack Manu, former national chairman of the new Patriotic Party (NPP), suggests that a virus video of former president John Agiekum Kuhuol, who lamented being on the sidelines in the party, is likely to be produced by artificial intelligence (AI).
He released the statement in an interview with Ganaweb journalists about the sidelines of the party's national representative meeting held on Saturday, July 19, 2025.
This is the transcription from the interview:
journalist: Is there anything you want to say about former President Khufur's idea that you are excluding him?
Peter Mc Manu: Ah, that's not true. That's not true at all. When we were in office with the patriotic research institute, I was with President Kuhuall, how many weeks ago? And at a national council meeting, lawyer Frank Davis exposed it (Kuffoor is on the sidelines).
“He said he and his team went to President Kuhuar's house and spent about three hours with him. please!
journalist: What about the video that came out, his interview with Brian Achiampun?
Peter Mc Manu: I'm an AI person, I can detect fakes. Don't believe everything you see.
journalist: Do you think it's ai?
Peter Mc Manu: Well, don't believe anything you see. You're a journalist, but I'll take this from me: don't swallow hooks, lines, sinkers, no! This is because there are so many fakes flying around in modern times. Check out the interview here [Watch from 3:00 β 3:48 seconds]It will be archived here

Fact Check
To verify the claim, GhanaFact conducted a keyword search on Google for news about the meeting between the former president and Dr. Brian Akiapon.
Ghana Fact found a Facebook post by Brian Atianpong, a member of Abetifi Constituency Council, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
A few days after sharing the post on his Facebook page, the video began to circulate as part of a meeting with the president.
The former president could say that in 1 minute and 45 seconds of the video shared by Ghanaweb, Channel One News, Joynews, Happy FM and blogs.
“If there were still elders at this party… if I was one of them, have I deteriorated to the point where I insisted that I wasn't eating after being fed? No! I haven't reached that stage yet. My mind and memory are unharmed,” he said.
Talking the NPP's journey from ideological roots at the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) to decades of political struggle, Kuhur recalls the party steadily rising until it decided to win in 2000.
“And now… am I on the sidelines? Are I ignored? I don't understand that. I really don't,” he said.
Similarly, news websites such as Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Citinewsroom and Asaase Radio publish content from videos on the platform.

Members of Brian's team will check the virus comments
Ghana Fact also contacted the former MP of Anya Soutuom constituency, who was attending a meeting between Dr. Brian Atianumun and former President President Kuhfour, to clarify whether the former president actually made the above comments.
“I would like to clearly state during our visit that when I said during my visit that we would call the meeting and hold the election on January 31st, a few days after the NEC decided, that we would be in the presence of the honorable Brian Achiampun and former President Kuhuol.
βAt that meeting, he knew he had heard the conclusions of the meeting on the radio, like ordinary party members and ordinary Ghanaians, and he feels he has not been consulted.
“Before the conversation started, he realized we were recording and actually placed the microphone on his chest. So it's not a recording made without his approval,” he added.
Ghanafact also ran the video through Deepware, the Deepfake Detection Platform, which scanned the video and returned a verdict where Deepfake was undetected. It should be noted, however, that the verdict is used only as third evidence in this report.

An explanation by Dr. Adomako Kissi proves that, as Peter Mac Manu argued, the video of Dr. Bryan Acheampong's conversation with former President Kufuor is authentic and that no AI has been generated.
