LTX Studio is an online generation AI service that aims to provide the needs of many tools filmmakers from storyboards and expand its scope to full-scale video creation. It's a bold ambition, but does it cut it in terms of production? I tested it to see what's on offer.
LTX Studio: Pricing and Planning
- The free tier limit really makes it a trial service, but when compared to other online services, the paid level is not that expensive
I think that ambitious goals like this will demand an eye-catching price, but the subscription costs for LTX Studio are surprisingly reasonable compared to other services.
For one, there is a free tier, which is always welcome and has a limit, but the worst case scenario is simply granting 800 Computing Seconds (CS). Not every month or year, but forever. Therefore, it is best to think of this layer as a way to test services.
Other tiers start at $15 a month and reach up to $125, each offering more tools and options, including CS, which increases each month. Pay each year and you will be allowed a 20% discount (i.e., equivalent to between $12 and $100 a month).
“Lite” comes with a personal license, while “Standard” and “Pro” have a commercial license. The latter two also include the ability to create “trained actors” (digital facsimiles), access to accelerated rendering, and the ability to work with others on other projects in a single project.

LTX Studio: Calculated seconds

- It makes sense to refer to computing (CS) as resource allocation, but it is very opaque as we don't get how long the action will take right now. LTX Studio is working on making this a more transparent transaction
It may be best to pause for a second and understand what computing seconds (CS) is. Image generation, video rendering, character appearance changes, computing time, it comes out of allocation, etc.
As I was informed, if someone opens a free account, “With all token generation videos using LTXV, you can generate around 12-16 videos.” This should be enough to provide a good idea of what the service will offer, but it is still somewhat opaque and obviously the more complicated the requests become, the more CS they need to be consumed to provide, and each modification costs additional CS.
Exploring my own service as illustrations, I sought out some images, videos and storyboards using around 8,000 CS. LTX Studio is aware of this and is currently working on how to clarify how many seconds to use per request.
LTX Studio: Get started

- Logging in without a password may sound fun, but if you're always accessing services from one computer, you'll get bored after a while. Apart from that, the homepage is easy to understand and use.
You have the option to log in via your Google account or email address. Although I don't have either password, every time I log in via email (or every day if I'm working a lot with LTX), I'll be asked for a special type of login code that will be sent on request.
Okay, there's no need to remember yet another password, but it can be frustrating to think about your computer storing your passwords recently.
Of course, it makes it very easy to log in from any computer, not just your computer.
Once you enter the right interface, you will receive a variety of options depending on your subscription level. For example, creating AI characters is not available in Lite Tiers. In addition to these artificial actors, you can also create images and videos, generate storyboards using AI, or create them manually instead. All this is provided in the form of giant thumbnails or via the left menu sidebar containing recent projects.
I was told this all changes quickly, and based on what you need to do, the interface intuitively transforms into the right tool. Another feature coming soon.
LTX Studio: Generated AI

- This genai service works and feels the same as others, but one major difference is the speed of the internal algorithm, which is the most impressive
Whether you choose to “Generate Image” or “Generate Motion”, you will be taken to the exact same “Gen Space”. This is the service section that remembers all the prompts you provided and you can scroll at any time. It is also possible to create multiple sessions to avoid clogging “Gen Space” with too many media.
This concept works similarly to other generation AI tools we've used in the past. Enter what you are aiming for and press “return” and there will be a prompt field where multiple results will be provided.
You cannot create a video without a still image that underlies the movement. This is accomplished by uploading the image or selecting what was generated from “Gen Space”, but the process is the same… except for the selection of algorithms.
By default, it offers a very fast in-house algorithm called “LTX Turbo.” Google's VEO 2 and 3 are also available, as well as the high-quality version of the default choice, “LTX.” VEO takes more CS as it takes longer to produce results. Additionally, the longest video you can produce with VEO is 8 seconds, while LTX can be configured up to 30 seconds (15 and later are still in beta, but 9 seconds is not the maximum).
The standard resolution of the video is 1080p, and is said to be working to reach 4K.
As is often the case with genai, it is not a magic bullet. It doesn't always work as expected, so you'll end up spending a lot of CS to get everything accurately.
LTX Studio: Storyboarding

- You have the option to manually attribution each shot you are chasing, or leave it all to LTX's AI to do it for you. There are also rudimentary video editors when they place artificial actors in the scene.
Perhaps the most impressive aspect of LTX Studio is the storyboard feature. You can create all the shots you need for the scene you plan to shoot with the “Blank Storyboard” tool. You can choose the type of shot, its angle, and description type, and LTX generates images based on that information.
Do you remember the digital actors you can create? Now, this is where you can add them to your project. It is also possible to change the style of your project from film-like things to grunge, film noir, anime and many more hosts.
I'm a bit worried about how easy it is to create an actor using portraits of celebrities or people you know, but the truth is said, that's the case with almost all other Genai services.
When you build a storyboard, there is also a timeline where each shot is displayed in order. You can move them freely, delete shots (this will be reflected in the storyboard). However, you can also export each shot you create with LTX and fine-tune your edits using dedicated video editing software.
Story Border can use this service to undoubtedly speed up the creation process. However, anyone who knows shots, angles, etc. is also very possible with this service to completely abolish story borders. So all you need to do is give a script for your scene, and AI will automatically create a shot after the shot for you.
It's not difficult to imagine. Many CSs allow you to create an entire video project, from concept to final output. The comfort of the chair, without hiring a place scout, cast, or crew, it certainly is the most impressive…but is that a good thing? For the industry, for the professionals? For individuals?
LTX Studio: Environmental Concerns

- Like other AI data centers, LTX Studio uses a lot of power and a lot of water. The Google Centre where they are hosted is “deeply careful” about reaching net zero by 2030, claiming to replenish about two-thirds of the water it uses
Additionally, concerns are growing about the environmental impact of such data centers. LTX Studio is currently hosted in Council Buff, Iowa, and is said to be “deeply careful” to reach net zero by 2030. It is also known that LTX is the most energy efficient AI model (I think we need to have a very fast generation engine in that respect).
Freshwater usage is known to be a major problem with the vast number of processors these centers need to cool. Google's data centers claim they will replenish about 64% of the water they use. Nevertheless, they still use a lot of freshwater, hearts. But again, all large AI centers have the same problem
Should I buy an LTX Studio?

Buy it…
I'm looking for a fast generation AI service that will help you build projects from scratch, create actors, add them to storyboards, make images into short video clips, and edit everything in the included (still indepth) video editing section.
If you don't buy it…
You are not a fan of AI, you don't like the strange images and videos that you generally produce, and you prefer to deal with humans to produce projects and works of art.
