End-to-end machine learning platform Predibase today announced a $12.2 million expansion to last year’s $16.25 million Series A funding round, led by Felicis. The company also announced the general availability of its low-code, declarative ML platform for developers.

During the beta period that started when the company emerged from stealth last year, users trained over 250 models on the platform. Now that the service is generally available, these users can also use Predibase to deploy their own Large Language Models (LLMs) instead of using APIs like OpenAI. The user will also be able to access his LudwigGPT LLM, which is unique to Predibase. LudwigGPT LLM is named after Predibase co-founder Piero Molino’s suite of machine learning tools that he launched in 2019 (not his 19th-century King of Bavaria, tragically).

“Every company wants to gain a competitive edge by embedding ML into their internal and customer-facing applications. Unfortunately, today’s ML tools are too complex for engineering teams and data science resources are too thin. , developers working on these projects are in trouble,” said Predibase co-founder and CEO Piero Molino. “Our mission is to enable novices and experts alike to build and deploy ML applications in production with just a few lines of code. And now we support building and deploying custom LLMs. We are expanding their capabilities for

To achieve this, the company today also announced Data Science Copilot, a system that can provide developers with recommendations on how to improve model performance. Predibase is also releasing his two-week free trial of the platform.

Current customers include Paradigm (doing something with cryptocurrencies) and Koble.ai (a tool that uses AI to help investors find early-stage investments).

Like most startups at this stage, Predibase plans to use the new funding to expand its go-to-market capabilities and build out its platform.

Between low-code/no-code ML platforms like AWS, Google, Microsoft, and many startups in the space, Predibase operates in an increasingly crowded market. The company claims to be focused on developers and stand out by providing them with a hatch that allows them to easily escape from low-code environments.
