Tezpur: The day's practical workshop entitled “Fundamental Techniques and Machine Learning in Clinical Microbiology, Pathology and Biochemistry” was successfully conducted by Tezpur's LGBRIMH Central Institute. The workshop aims to enhance the technical capabilities of professionals and students in the emergency community in northeastern India.
The programme began with the first session held at the LGBRIMH Cafeteria. Dr. Jyoti Hazarika, director and principal of the Department of Microbiology, welcomed participants and officially launched the event with the ritual lighting of the lamp.
The first session included insightful lectures on diagnostic and laboratory practices. Dr. Karuppasamy Chelapandi of Ripans at Aizawl discussed “basic diagnostic methods used in microbiology and its clinical applications,” providing valuable knowledge about basic microbiological methods. Following this, Dr. Malavika Barman of GMCH said that Guwahati “emphasizes the quality assurance challenges of the clinical research lab despite the challenges of the contemporary biochemistry Institute despite the quality controls.” The third presentation was by Dr. Asimmanta from Difu Medical College, which detailed “coagulation: automation and its practical implications” and highlighted technological advances in pathology.
The second session was dedicated to practical training, with participants engaged in practical demonstrations that included clinical equipment and laboratory techniques in biochemistry, microbiology and pathology.
The event was coordinated and hosted by Dr. Kashmita Bhattacharyya, an assistant professor of pathology. A total of 23 participants from various emergency facilities in the Northeast region participated in the workshop along with LGBRIMH students. Respected medical professionals such as Dr. Kushal Tamuli and Dr. Jayanta Kr. Das, Dr jadab K. Phukan, Dr Jitu Mani Kalita, and Dr Debahuti Sabhapandit were also present. A certificate of participation was awarded at the end of the workshop and recognized the dedication and involvement of all participants.
