We live in an age where we can't always trust our eyes. It was the latest music video for her new song, “The Dead Dance,” on Wednesday's Netflix show, which has now been attacked for potential AI use besides Lady Gaga.
So, how exactly did this happen? Break it all from the start, whether there are any signs or not. do Point out the AI used in visuals directed by Tim Burton himself.
First of all: Wednesday Gaga! Yes, it's happening. Lady Gaga was previously announced as a guest star for season 2 of her beloved streaming series, and it has been revealed that she will appear later in the season, airing on September 3rd.
She rocked a creepy white dress with ghostly make-up and hair, objects, or another concrete hand that resembles an object on her shoulder. The show's social media accounts were called her “Venom's Vision,” but they didn't give much else more about her character, despite rumors that she will play the teacher at Nevermore Academy.
Then, as the release day rolled, Floodgates opened for Gaga's new track and the music video was released. The news that the song would be removed and featured in season 2, and the fact that there was already an announcement of the fact that there was a video directed by Burton, was not entirely surprising. But it didn't make the video and song that exciting.
In the video, Burton employs a black and white gothic aesthetic that fits perfectly on Wednesday. and show. Gaga wears a very detailed white Gothic gown and dances irregularly along the chorus lyrics “I Dance Until I Die.” However, there is one specific production design option that Eagle Eyed fans are concerned about.
The video also highlights the creepy puppet that initially stays still and starts moving as the song chorus begins.

One fan retweeted the video directly from Gaga, saying, “I didn't think I was on the timeline where the Tim Burton x Lady Gaga collaboration turns out to be an AI slop, but here I am.” The user tried to justify why the dolls running in the video felt like they had been animated using AI by adding multiple replies to their tweets. Their particular reference point is the doll's hand, which makes this user seem to transform themselves into a clip that is singled out of the visual.
Other fans flooded with replies to tweets. It has since gone viral with over 5.8 million views and over 70,000 likes. Some fans agreed to the poster, but more have come to both Burton and Gaga's defense. Ultimately, this tweet ended up getting community notes with some very important receipts.

Community Notes are guided to Instagram posts that contain full credits to the music video from the Roots Production Service, which claims to have produced the music video. Not only is the VFX Supervisor listed as part of the crew, there is also the second important piece of the puzzle to check out here.
A man commented on uploading the official video on the day the YouTube handle @Carlosllergo was released. “I'm proud to be part of the producer who created this video with Lady Gaga and Tim Burton. A true dream project. I'm grateful to everyone on the team that made Dead Dance possible.”
Many fans left a kind response to his words, but one user candidly asked, “Is it a doll AI?” Llergo replied, “Nooooo. Of course, anything moving was animated in VFX studio.”
Return to the list of people who worked on the video. Llergo is credited to that list as the project's line producer. In other words, we are fully aware of the measures taken during production to make the final product as close to our supervisory vision as possible. Llergo is worth listening as line producers keep things running literally on set, doing a lot of offset work and ensuring things run smoothly on budget. Furthermore, it I have it The video has been confirmed to have been filmed in Mexico. In particular, it was confirmed to be an island of Xochimilco dolls just south of Mexico City.
The Community Note also touches on Burton's public comments on AI. “What it does is that it sucks something from you,” he told the Independent in a September 2023 interview. “It takes something from your soul or spirit. It's very intrusive, especially if it has something to do with you. It's like a robot that takes away your humanity, your soul.”
The evidence appears to be black and white here (literally figuratively), but the fans who made the original post seemed unconvinced by both the evidence and the defense of other fans, but it appears that Gaga, Burton and their crew did not take part in the use of AI for this project.
