King's Artificial Intelligence Institute was selected by Devon County Council to provide short courses on AI fundamentals to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) owners in southwestern England.
The free online course, “AI Basics: A Practical Guide for Business,” consists of four weeks of flexible learning, consisting of expert-led sessions and 1:1 support to explore the benefits AI can bring to your enterprise. King's Institute for Artificial Intelligence will provide training to over 80 learners between September and December 2024, over three cohorts.
Participants explore:
- AI FundamentalsUnderstand real-world applications for business:
- The basics of data science: Learn AI-driven analytical techniques
- Ethical considerations: Navigate data privacy and bias
- Fast engineering: Create effective prompts for different business needs
- Practical implementation: 1:1 or small group session learning and personalized guidance to leverage AI in business
The course is open to businesses with fewer than 250 employees or unemployed people based in Devon, Plymouth, Somerset and Torbay. Half of the 80 locations are ring fenced for individuals underrepresented in the technology sector, including women, black people, Asians, ethnicities, disabled people, and individuals over 50 years old.
Participants have neither prior experience in studying AI nor completed their education at the degree level. Learn more, including how to join course.
The program is offered on behalf of the Devon County Council as part of the Digital Skills Series program and is funded from the heart of the Southwest Lep Local Growth agreement.
The new course is Kings' latest initiative to enhance society's understanding of AI as part of its commitment to service and its commitment to bring together interdisciplinary expertise to address real-world issues.
The university also offers a free online “Generating AI in Higher Education” course to help students, academics and professional services staff gain knowledge about how the rapid development of Generating AI, such as CHATGPT, affects the higher education sector.
