new delhi [India]July 25 (ANI): Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge said Karnataka will constitute two specialized working groups with the Center for E-Governance and the Ministry of Home Affairs to identify priority use cases for artificial intelligence and consider its applications across governance, education and innovation.
Kharge made the announcement after visiting Anthropic’s Bangalore office and discussing the practical application of AI and potential collaborations to strengthen the state’s technology ecosystem.
In a post to X on Saturday, the minister said the Anthropic team introduced several applications focused on AI-enabled citizen services, multilingual experiences, and the responsible deployment of artificial intelligence. Discussions also addressed how existing government datasets can be leveraged to improve public service delivery.
“Following discussions, we agreed to form two specialized working groups with the Center for Electronic Governance and the Ministry of Home Affairs to identify priority use cases and take these ideas forward,” Kharge said.
The proposed working group is expected to consider areas where AI can support government functions and improve service delivery to the public. A focus on multilingual applications could also help expand the accessibility of digital public services across Karnataka’s linguistically diverse population.
The discussion further focused on expanding AI skills across the state through Claude certifications for students, professionals, and businesses. These initiatives aim to help individuals and organizations build practical capabilities in artificial intelligence and prepare for the growing demand for AI-related skills.
Karge said the conference also covered opportunities for startups and developers in Karnataka to leverage Anthropic’s AI tools. The company’s AI for Science and Claude for Education programs were also discussed, highlighting potential collaborations in research and learning.
The minister said Anthropic’s expertise and experience will be invaluable as Karnataka continues its efforts to build a globally competitive AI ecosystem.
The proposed partnership comes as governments and technology companies increasingly consider the use of artificial intelligence in government, education and research.
For Karnataka, home to a large technology and startup ecosystem in Bangalore, this initiative has the potential to provide a framework for identifying practical AI applications while strengthening skills and innovation capacity across the state. (Ani)
