Guernsey and Jersey leaders attend summits with Ireland, the UK and other crown-dependent politicians to discuss artificial intelligence (AI).
Jersey Prime Minister Lyndon Farnham and Guernsey President of Policy and Resources Lyndon Trott were one of the guests at the 43rd Council of UK and Ireland (BIC) held in Newcastle, Northern Ireland.
They were joined by other major politicians, including the first ministers of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, Ireland's Prime Minister Mishal Martin and representatives of Westminster.
The meeting themes included the potential benefits and challenges of using AI in government, Guernsey said.
The BIC was established as part of the Good Friday Agreement to promote dependency between the UK, Ireland and Crown.
Farnham said the summit will allow him and Jersey's external relations minister Ian Ghost to have “useful conversations” with other major politicians who could benefit the island.
He added: “The UK and Ireland councils remain an important forum that brings together member governments to discuss and address many joint challenges and opportunities.”
Trott said it was the last BIC summit he will be attending after his election in Guernsey before retiring from politics later this month.
“To represent Guernsey at the Council table of British and Ireland over the years of my time as Prime Minister was one of the great honors of my public life,” he said.
