kuala lumpur:

The Islamic Development Authority (Jakim) aims to shorten the processing time for halal certification applications by utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

Its executive director Sirajuddin Suhaimy said the move will be realized in the coming months through the introduction of the MyeHalal 2.0 system, supported by the MyHalalingredients database.

“By using existing data, we can leverage it through AI technology. Through MyeHalal 2.0, the system will review every application submitted based on our database, MyHalalingredients, which acts as a support system,” he said while appearing as a guest on Bernama TV’s Luan Bikala show last night.

He said digital innovation would allow the approval process to be carried out more quickly, in line with the government’s desire to support the growth of the industry.

Sirajuddin said that apart from the use of AI, the company has also introduced a whitelist initiative targeting companies with high levels of commitment and strong compliance records to further speed up the approval process for halal certification.

“We whitelist companies that have never faced any problems and are working hard. This means that if you apply and promptly submit supporting documents, your halal certification will be approved within a week.”

“This is one of the factors we take into account. Thanks to the high level of commitment that companies have shown, we don’t have to make things difficult,” he said.
