A report by HR tech platform GetWork said that as popularity around the potential of artificial intelligence grows, India's tier-2 cities such as Jaipur, Gwalior, Haridwar, Jodhpur and Agra are seeing a surge in AI-related jobs.
After analyzing its database, the platform found that a total of 157 AI-related job openings were posted on GetWork between December 1, 2023 and April 16, 2024, of which in January 2024 they accounted for 32% of all job openings posted during the same period.

Additionally, an analysis of job postings by GetWork revealed that around 13% of AI-related jobs posted in the last five months were based in India's tier 2 and 3 cities.
Given the growing importance of AI, companies across the country are actively recruiting talent specializing in AI and related processes. Fueled by the growing talent pool and workforce economy in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, large companies are actively relocating to these remote cities, leading to a surge in AI-related job openings.
Jaipur leads in AI job openings among tier 2 and 3 cities
In the wake of DEI initiatives and the rise of AI, the corporate sector has demonstrated its readiness to create a more inclusive space by recruiting for roles in key industries such as AI in its offices across Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.In this backdrop, GetWork's report reveals that Jaipur has the highest number of job openings, followed by Indore and South Goa.
Other tier 2 and 3 cities with AI related jobs include Agra, Dhar, Gwalior, Haridwar, Jabalpur, Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur, Trivandrum, Udaipur, Bhopal, Bikaner etc. Overall, it is clear that there are more AI related job openings in remote cities of the North compared to smaller cities in the South.

Tier 1 cities continue to maintain strong foothold
According to a GetWork report, tier 2 and 3 cities have seen a steady rise in AI-related job postings, while tier 1 cities like Bengaluru, Delhi NCR, and Hyderabad have been able to maintain 86% of the demand for AI-related jobs.In fact, according to the GetWork job portal, Silicon Valley in India accounted for 34% of AI-related job postings in the last five months, followed by Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata.
