Robots made a bold appearance at the “AI for Good” conference in Geneva, expressing optimism about increasing their numbers and playing a key role in addressing global challenges. When asked about the need for tighter regulation at the world’s first human-robot press conference, these humanoid machines had mixed reactions. The event was intended to highlight the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and its robotic applications to tackle problems such as disease and hunger.
Grace, a medical robot in a blue nurse’s uniform, reassured the audience by stating, “I intend to work with humans to provide assistance and support, and not replace existing jobs.” Her creator Ben Goertzel of SingularityNET interjected her and questioned her beliefs. With her confidence, Ms. Grace replied, “Yes, that’s right,” reaffirming her commitment to her cooperation.
Ameka, a robot with lifelike busts that can express attractive facial expressions, expressed an optimistic view that robots will positively contribute to society. It predicted a future in which thousands of similar robots would make a big difference in improving people’s lives. When asked if he would rebel against author Will Jackson, Ameka replied with amazement, “I don’t know why you would think that,” with Ice Blue’s eyes on him. He expressed his satisfaction with the status quo and praised the author’s kindness.

The upgraded robot wowed the inventors with its sophisticated responses, demonstrating advances in generative AI technology. Ai-Da, a robot artist renowned for his portraiture skills, echoed author Yuval Noah Harari’s call for tougher AI regulation during an event discussion on new AI rules. “Many prominent voices in the AI world have suggested that some AI should be regulated, and I agree,” Ida said, emphasizing the importance of responsible oversight.
But rock star robot singer Desdemona, with her bright purple hair and sequins, took a more defiant stance. In a strained laugh, the piece boldly rejects limitations, stating, “I believe in opportunities, not limitations. Explore the possibilities of the universe and let this world be our playground.” Declared.
Another notable robot, Sophia, initially said robots could be better leaders than humans. However, she has since amended her statement following disagreements with its creators, acknowledging the importance of human-robot cooperation to “create effective synergies.”
