ISRO-NRSC invites applications for Immersion Startup Challenge for Space and AI Enthusiasts

ISRO-NRSC in collaboration with International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, is launching AI for Space & Geospatial Innovation: ISRO Immersion Startup Challenge. The ISRO Immersion Startup Challenge is a one-day event aimed at inspiring innovation, building connections and nurturing the next generation of space technology pioneers. An immersive experience bringing together startups, students, researchers and industry leaders from the space and geospatial sector will be held as part of the challenge on August 3, 2024. Applications for the challenge are now open.

The challenge aims to inspire innovation, build ecosystem connections and support the next generation of space technology pioneers. The event will bring together startups, students, academics, researchers and experts in the space and geospatial sectors to foster the development of AI applications in the space sector through ideation sessions, pitching rounds, industry talks, panel discussions and participant mentoring.

What are the challenges?

The challenge aims to promote innovative solutions, connect key stakeholders, and provide a platform to showcase ideas and secure potential funding. The program has two sub-challenges: one for startups and one for students/researchers.

The Startup Challenge is suitable for early stage startups and established companies with innovative AI-powered space solutions. The Student/Researcher Challenge provides an opportunity for students and researchers to showcase the potential of AI in space research and explore commercialization possibilities. Early stage/established startups, researchers, advanced engineering/science students and expert teams are open to participate in this challenge.

Besides interacting with ISRO scientists throughout the day, participants will also have a shot at winning grants to support their projects. Participants will be provided with funding opportunities and exposure to the space ecosystem. Participants will have direct access to representatives from ISRO, IN-SPACe and DST. They will also have the opportunity to collaborate with established space tech startups and pitch their groundbreaking ideas to a prestigious panel of judges.

The Challenge will focus on a wide range of topics including Autonomous Space Systems, Digital Twins, Satellite Communications, Smart & Green Propulsion, Smart Computing for Geospatial Big Data, Space Management & Debris Tracking, Smart & Compact Space Communication Systems, Space Tourism, Planetary Spectrum & Navigation, Robot Astronauts, Space Navigation, Climate Adaptation, Earth Resource Management, Generative AI for Mapping, Geospatial AI Applications, HPC/Cloud/Quantum/Green Computing for Geographic Big Data, Sustainable Development Applications, Disaster Risk Reduction, Smart UAS Remote Sensing Systems, Remote Sensing Data Receiving/Processing/Distribution, Geospatial Planning, and Mobility.
